Smashing with Yani

Hello there SMASH*aholics,

How was your weekend?  Did you have a "smashing time"?

Today I am sharing some pages with you from the gorgeous Yani, she is one of the admin over at SMASH*aholics and I have known Yanatzi via cyber world now for almost 3 year I think it would be Yani, true?  I often wish everyone was in driving distance, she caught my eye with her amazing cards and now with her smashing pages....

BLOG : http://frommyartlab.blogspot.com.au/

KELLIE'S NOTES : Yani your smashing is amazing, but the thing I love more, is the fact of the way you use images from Saturated Canary and Magnolia, it always looks amazing.

How did you get into smashing? I always loved to scrapbook, but I never got interested in smashing. At least not until my friend Kellie Winnell dragged me to it! Actually she drags me everywhere... smashing, Facebook groups, blog hops, December Daily, Daybooks... you name it! I blame it all to her! (P.S. - Thanks Kellie! ;-) [and I fully except the blame, because you always blow me away with your creative style, lol....KELLIE]

What is your favorite book/folio? So far the pink and red ones. I feel like they're so much like me and my changing mood. One day I like being vintage and elegant, and then another day I like fun and spontaneous, just like those two books.

What do you love most about SMASH*ing? I love that it's a free style! There are no rules, no rights, no wrongs, no patterns to follow. I can do whatever I want and can use almost anything I want.

Smash Style: I don't think that I have a specific style. It all depends on my mood. Some days I like to work clean and simple, while other days I like crowded and quirky pages.

Thank you SO much Yani for allowing me to share your wonderful pages!

Have a SMASHING week everyone!

P.s remember if you want to be featured on the blog, email me kelliewinnell at gmail dot com [replacing the at - @ and dot with .  With your pages and the answers to the questions above.

Smashing with Ana

Hello there SMASH*aholics,

We are back with another smash fan and a talented girl Ana is too.  Let get to see her smashing pages and get to know a bit more about her...

How did you get into SMASH*ing:  I discovered Smash*ing when I was browsing thru the internet to find creative ways to document memories.  When I came across the YT video of how it works, i knew I needed one.  Im really a sentimental type of person and I try to keep almost everything that reminds me of special events in my life and having them all in one box makes me want to throw them away.  Honestly though, i regret having thrown some but i still have years to come to make a new and this time, i have something to help me keep those memorabilia and say something about it too with journaling.

What do you love most about SMASH*ing: Smashbooks are perfect for those who keep a lot of memorabilia.  you can just stick everything in there.. NO RULES at all... its not formal like the traditional 12x12 scrapbooks where im having a hard time doing.  I see it as a stress reliever than making scrapbooks that seems like you need to have instructional manual beside you when doing it.  Smashbooks are easy way to keep your memories alive for years to come.

What is your favourite book/folio:  I have all but the international folio.  I've browsed thru all and I love the pink and the red one so much.  But currently Im using 2 oranges and 1 green.  What I love about the orange too is that I can have more freedom with the pages because it has a lot of the graphing paper pages.  I can simply cover it and work.  Pink is just too dainty and the pages are too pretty to mess it up so I have to have that perfect theme for me to use it.

SMASH* style: I really dont have that certain style coz it changes as I work.  I browse thru hundreds of photos on the internet and also the works of fellow smashaholics and try to incorporate what i see in my pages.  But i see my style on the layering type, coz I just love chunkie fat smashbooks!

Was great getting to know more about you Ana and THANK YOU for letting me feature your amazing pages!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Smashing with Cathy

Hello there SMASH*aholics,

Time for another inspirational post with a bunch of smashing pages and this time I am once again bringing you another of the amazing admin girls from the SMASH*aholics facebook group and this time it's the gorgeous Cathy...

KELLIE'S NOTES : WOW only you Cathy could make fluro look so amazing!  I love looking at your smashing pages as you always inspire me!

HOW DID YOU GET INTO SMASH*ING :
I was watching "The Vow" and I came to the realization that anything can happen in your life. You can not predict the future, but you can document the past. And if something were to happen in your life, you need to have some record of the amazing things you have done in your past. I would love to hand my smashbooks down to my kids and grand kids one day!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK/FOLIO :
The wedding! The colors in there reflect more of my style. It has a very whimsy and vintage flair to it I just can't help but love. I love the rustic and wood grains and a nice touch of romance in the pages.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT SMASH*ING :
The leisure to do what I want, when I want, how I want. I don't need to feel pressured to have spreads a certain way or to "sketch" out my layouts.

SMASH STYLE :
I used to start out just gluing a bunch of stuff down, with no real planning out. Now I have developed more into the layered smasher.... I like to pile things on top of each other - overlays and rub-ons on top of washi tape, stamping over pictures, brads , twines, everything. I use it all! I love different elements in a smash page!

Thank you so much Cathy for letting me share a bit about you and your pages today!

Till next time, have a smashing time!

Smashing with Lizzie

Hello there SMASH*aholics,

I am so excited to share these smashing pages with you, it's my girl and GS, the talented and one of the amazing admin over on the SMASH*aholics.

BLOG : http://www.ohsnaplizzie.com/

KELLIE'S NOTES : Lizzie is one amazingly talented crafter, her smashing pages always inspire me and she is one of the amazing admins over at SMASH*aholics.

What do you love about SMASHING : EVERYTHING!  I love the freedom of it.  You don't need to pay attention to the design and elements as much as you do with other paper crafts.  I always catch myself looking for that 'triangle' that I use when scrapbooking.  There is no need for it b/c you are just SMASHing!!

What kind of style is your smashing : I SMASH it all!  Photos, funny musing from the interwebz, ticket stubs!  If I can make it fit on a page it's getting SMASHed!

I have loved sharing Lizzie's pages with you all and sure you all loved checking them out.  THANK YOU Lizzie!

Have a smashing week everyone!

Smashing with Nancy

Hello there SMASH*aholics,

Well it's time to get this blog back on track, soon we have another lot of school holidays in Australia, boy is the year flying by?

Today we are featuring one amazing smasher and she is so sweet as well, let's get to know and meet NANCY...

Blog: Scrappingoutofcontrol.blogspot.com

NOTES FROM KELLIE : Again another amazing cover, don't you just love the vintage shabby feel?  And Nancy's pages are so amazing, love the dog one, hehe!

How did you get into smashing? I bought my first smash book last year when they first came out. Back then; my style was more of a vintage/distressed style. For some reason I started getting into bright colors and a cleaner look. I recently started making smash book videos to capture our family’s summer. My daughter wanted to make a list of all the things we did during the summer and I though well maybe I should document it in the smash book. And so we started our journey and we have not looked back!! We have a ton of smash videos now. My 5 year old has a smash video as well!

What is your favorite book/folio? I don’t really have a favorite book as I love them all the same. The best part of smashing is that you really don’t have to go with the theme of the book. You can make it your own.
I have 7 smash books now but I am only working on three.  Filling the book takes a while!

What do you love most about smashing? I love that there are no rules!! You can do what ever you like to each page..It doesn’t have to look cute or pretty. We can capture each memory without having to worry about anything. I love that you can add mementoes in each page and can look back at them 20 years from now. I have gotten so many pages done this summer then I have in a lifetime. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the traditional layouts, but Smashing is so much fun and best of all its easy. My daughters have their own smash books and they have filled it with lots of fun memories. I wish I had something like this when I was younger.

Thank you so much for allowing me to feature your smashing pages in the SMASH*aholics blog Nancy!

Have a smashing day everyone!

Smashing with Lee

Hello there SMASH*aholics,

Today we are featuring Lee and I am sure you would had seen her smash pages about in the SMASH*aholics Facebook group, they are the kind that take your breath away...

NOTE FROM KELLIE : WOW right?  I mean that cover above is just amazing I want to quickly type this so I can go check it out again, all the detail.  Amazing smash pages!

How did you get into smashing? I was intrigued when I first saw the Smashbooks at Michael's.  Loved the size of the pages, and the randomness of the subjects I saw in pages posted online.

What is your favorite book/folio? Most of my smashbooks are homemade.  I have been a scrapbooker for 19 years... and back in the day there was no such thing as double sided paper.  I had so much paper with white backsides that was just sitting around.  Patterns I liked, but they were just sitting.  I decided that using those for smashbook pages would be a great idea, and I was willing to cut and glue papers together back to back.

Recently, I bought my first 2 Smashbooks, the pink one and the yellow.  So far, I am loving the pink.  I am working on the 30 day challenge in this book.  I will be smashing the postcards I have collected from swapping in the yellow one.

What do you love most about smashing? I thought the idea of creating a "junk drawer" in a book was totally something I could get into because I had so many random photos and bits and pieces of things I'd saved and they were collecting in my purses, and drawers around the house. Things that I wanted to keep, but didn't have any place to keep them where I could enjoy seeing them in an organized place. I love using odds and ends of supplies, left over stickers, etc., and being totally random in how I put my pages together.  Looking through my smashbooks makes me so happy.

I also love using the smash style for vacation photos because of how quick it is to complete a book, and collecting memorbilia from my trips is so much fun.

Thank you SO much Lee for allowing us to showcase your smashing work!

Have a smashing day everyone xx
